Taiwan Design Research Institute 2026 Summer Internship Program Now Open for Applications! We welcome students from domestic and international colleges and universities to experience workplace life, explore future career directions, gain self-awareness, and plan for their future. We encourage those passionate about design research to join TDRI.

 

TDRI provides diverse internship opportunities. Based on project needs, mentors will be assigned to support interns’ work, learning, and development. Interns may also have opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with TDRI and other enterprises.

 

●Eligibility:

Students currently enrolled in undergraduate, master's, or doctoral programs at domestic or international colleges and universities.

 

●Internship Details:

I. Number of Interns: Approximately 26 interns.

II. Internship Categories:

 

A. Design Research Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities

 

(A) Design Research & Development Section:

              1. Conduct user experience interviews, testing, feedback analysis, and iteration planning for AI design tools.
              2. Conduct trend research and case data collection/analysis on specific industry topics (e.g., healthcare, environmental sustainability). 

(B) Strategic Foresight Research & Development Section :

              1. Taipei Fashion Week: preliminary research and clarification, domestic and international trend literature collection, data compilation and analysis.
              2. Compilation and analysis of expert interviews on the operational mechanisms of design capability; review and issue analysis of design capability indicator data; literature review and analysis; and organization of materials for outreach briefing sessions. 

 

B. Industry Guidance Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities

 

(A) International Development Section: 

              1. Taiwan Creative Expo: exhibitor coordination and matchmaking scheduling, buyer services and online matchmaking arrangements, exhibitor services and related support program operations.
              2. Cross-disciplinary projects: assistance with DIT community planning. 

(B) Industry & Innovation Section:

              1. Taiwan Cultural Expo: Cultural curation and commercial district revitalization programs.
              2. Cross-disciplinary Projects: Design–industry–academia collaboration and platform incubation/mentorship programs. 

(C) Industry Foresight Section:

Sustainable design, circular design, LCM, ESG, service design, UX/UI, HMI, AI x Design, smart mobility, healthcare.

 

(D) Branding & Promotion Section:

              1. Taiwan Creative Expo social media, marketing, and on-site events.
              2. Golden Pin Design Award evaluation meetings.

(E) Planning Section:

Assist with IDDI community marketing and content creation, interviews, participate in mid-term reviews, support observation documentation, assist in writing IDDI exhibition project materials and promotional content. (Internship Location: TDRI Xinyi Office – 3F., No. 41, Sec. 3, Xinyi Rd., Da’an Dist., Taipei City) 

 

 

C. Public Service Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities:

 

(A) Public Service Section: 

Public service research and practical participation. 

 

(B) Local Innovation Section: 

              1. Taiwan Design Expo social media marketing and related exhibition affairs.
              2. T22 community marketing planning.
              3. Taipei Fashion Week runway shows and international exchange-related operations. 

(C) Operations & Promotion Section:

              1. Taiwan Design Museum, Not Just Library, Design Point media marketing strategies and issue planning.
              2. Social media platform management (FB, IG, etc.), with capabilities in visual content creation and copywriting.
              3. Planning and execution of public events: Children’s Design Summer Camp, Taipei Fashion Week, exhibition openings, and press conferences.
              4. Exhibition execution and related operational planning. 

 

D. Community & Media Relations Category – Assigned Departments & Key Responsibilities:

 

(A) Administration Section: 

Social media marketing, online community management and operations, creative content ideation, copywriting and visual design; participation in all TDRI media events and transforming materials into marketing language; your creative works will be published on TDRI’s FB and IG social media platforms; candidates are required to possess audiovisual expertise, be proficient in short-form video editing and production, and have experience operating personal media platforms.

●Internship Duration: July 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026 (approximately 2 months, full-time; 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week). Extensions may be arranged depending on departmental or student needs (e.g., research projects, thesis work).

 

●Internship Allowance & Insurance: (Subject to labor insurance deductions)

I. Undergraduate students: NT$30,000 per month 

II. Master’s students: NT$36,000 per month

III. Doctoral students: NT$40,000 per month 

 

●Application Process

I. Application Deadline: Until April 15, 2026 (Wednesday) (subject to change depending on actual circumstances) 

II. Application Method: Submit your application via TDRI’s job page on the 104 Job Bank website. Required documents include: 

A. Personal photo 

B. Autobiography (please state at the beginning): 

(A)Current year of study: Undergraduate ○ year / Master’s ○ year / Doctoral ○ year 

(B)Ability to participate in the full internship: “Yes” or “No”

(C)Available internship period: July ○, 2026 – August ○, 2026 

C. Portfolio (no restriction on number of pages or format; online link submission is preferred). 

D. Student ID or proof of enrollment (must be valid during internship period; applications without proof will not be accepted)

E. International students: Passport, Alien Resident Certificate, and work permit issued by the Ministry of Labor, Taiwan 

III. The results of the initial review are expected to be announced via the 104 Job Bank system by mid-May. Qualified candidates will be invited to attend an online interview, which is scheduled to take place by mid-May 2026. 

IV. Accepted interns will be assigned based on their application preferences and departmental needs.

V. Additional legal requirements for international students will be handled separately. 

 

●Internship Regulations

I. Internship runs from July 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026, with possible extensions depending on departmental and student needs. 

II. Interns must submit a final internship report before completion and publish it on YouTube, Medium, or Matters (choose one for public release).

III. Interns must comply with TDRI regulations; unexcused absences are not permitted. IV. If an intern must terminate the internship early, a formal request must be submitted to TDRI.
